Great Book on Microwave NDT&E ...

Dear Candidate Buyers,

I am a Ph.D. student at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in SUNY. I bought this book almost 2 months ago, and after buying from Amazon I used the book very often.

I am studying on Characterization of Dielectric Materials by a Microwave Non-Destructive method. The book is generally written good, but I do recommend this book to people studying and working on the special area of Characterization of Materials by Microwaves.

You can find in the literature lots of studies of the authors V. V. Varadan and V. K. Varadan, on characterization of materials by free-space non-destructive method. Their research group is one of the big scientic groups on Microwave NDT&E (Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation).

As a result, I rate this book 5 out of 5, but want to notify the prospective buyers of this book that this book is written for a book on a specific subject (characterization of materials by microwaves), it is not a text book (in my opinion).

Exceptional Guide to Designing Your Own Workbench

Kudos to Chris Schwarz et al. for revisiting the first book and creating this exceptionally well-written and researched collection of work!

~ Hundreds of photos detailing key fabricating and assembly processes
~ Nine plans that are also available in Google SketchUp format
~ Numerous practical thoughts and interesting philosophies to guide you to build a great customized bench
~ Chapter devoted to work holding hardware, (but does not discuss the brilliant BenchCrafted Criscross)
~ Entire chapter of drawings on bench designs that an intermediate woodworker could easily build from
~ Nice section on building a wall hung tool rack
~ Chris's challenge: Chapter Seventeen, The Best Bench Never Built

Very good, but mostly a collection of articles

It is hard to tell if what you are reading, at some points, is by the author or another of his journalist colleagues. That said, I found this book to be very useful in building my own workbench. I would not not say that this book is essential, but that it is very helpful.

You may want to look elsewhere if you are a power tool, or hybrid style woodworker. Although the author attempts to describe some of the differences, he is honest in his preferences, and I felt the need to adapt my own design for my own needs. This is not a criticism, just an observation.

One other note. Since the author's approach is to describe his own "superior" design and then critique several other designs against his, if you don't like his "best" design, you may be frustrated with his singular-design-centrism.

Very well written book, one of the few that made me laugh while learning. Passed the N+ 10-006 exam yesterday thank you!

I passed the N+ 10-006 exam yesterday I failed a month ago with a 680 score, bought your book went through mostly the entire book skipping only what I knew I had a good handle on. I had studied two other authors books prior to the failed test. I used pretty much all materials in your book with the included CD. Really enjoyed the video trainings and performance based questions. The final review packet was great I printed it out and read it in the parking lot of the test facility in one hour sat in down and walked into the test. Again the video trainings you put together I like the way you just go with it very real world. I think I could have scored better I think I missed some of what should have been easy questions but CompTIA's wording and test writing is a bit challenging to work through so I am happy with what I got.
Thank you for a great book I liked it a lot it was the third Network+ Study guide I went through from now on I'll look for Glen E. Clarke on my study guides and books as the gold standard.

Author provides a great book for study

Author provides a great book for study, but the publisher (McGraw-Hill) is horrible. This is the second book I have bought from this author on the Kindle and received the electronic files from the authors website, but McGraw-Hill does not give the other material promised (videos, pdf's, etc.). I entered the required information on their website for both kindle books and received nothing. So, I definitely suggest steering clear of all of the publisher's books on Kindle until they start providing the material promised with purchasing the book. If you look elsewhere, this is the same complaint that others have after being suckered by McGraw-Hill's lack of electronic book support.

Just passed the Network+ N10-006 Today!

This is the second book by Glen E. Clarke that I have used to pass a CompTIA Certification. After reading and using his Security+ SY0-401 book and CD, I knew that I was going to buy his Network+ book to prepare for this exam. Very well written and easy to understand. The CD that comes with this book is a great tool to assist you in preparing for the exam, use it along with the book in each chapter and then the 559 Total Tester test questions is the follow up that really hits it home.

Grassfed beef is the way to go.

The book is very helpful to "newbies" as well as "veterans" of the cattle business. We've just started with our Lowlines and they are wonderful. The book has helped us prioritize some things and getting the pastures in good condition is at the top of the list. With good pastures comes good beef.

Mrs. Hayes has written in terms that anyone can understand. The language is concise and the book is an enjoyable read. Understanding some of the Aussie terms she used was a fun challenge at times, but once I had them Americanized I had no problems understanding what she was talking about.

Thanks for a good solid book about Lowline facts and good pasture management.

Mixed Feelings

This is an important topic and there are some OK texts. I don't see a lot of alternatives that have been published so I would still buy this if you are very interested in the subject, but I would first recommend "Interrogating Postfeminism: Gender and the Politics of Popular Culture" by Yvonne Tasker and Diane Negra and "The Aftermath of Feminism: Gender, Culture and Social Change" by Angela McRobbie.

I felt like many of the essays were too short, and ended just as they were approaching substantial ideas. Many of the essays are sketches for proposed case studies or more in depth research. I haven't looked into the credentials of contributors but some of the texts read as if they were written by PhD students. That being said, I really enjoyed some sections, especially "Pregnant Beauty" by Imogen Tyler. I could imagine using some of these essays in an undergraduate course, I just wouldn't assign the entire book.

I don't think Rosalind Gill should have edited this book. I find it really strange that almost every essay prominently cites her texts, it seems like a conflict of interest and makes me suspicious of the integrity of the collection. This certainly reflects the fact that this is a niche field, but bothers me none the less.

There isn't enough written about neoliberalism and postfeminism, and I wanted to love this book, but I did not.

Another great one from Drew Hayden Taylor!

This is an excellent book for young teens. I am a thirty year old college student who read this in a class on Native American Fiction and I loved it! It's a coming of age tale of romance and teen angst with the threat of a vampire who turns out to be a really great guy. Terrific read! Drew Hayden Taylor is also a hilarious person! Look him up!

Just love Drew Hayden Taylor's writings

This is the fifth book I bought of Drew's work and just WOW!!! extremely engaging and just so much fun reading. If you haven't read any of his books before you have to just buy one and you'll be hooked!
P.S. Drew please put more of your book s on Kindle please!!! I want them all on my kindle!

Fabulous book by a phenomenal author. Great, thought-provoking but quick read. Great for middle school students to read and discuss in literature circle, with teacher, or with an elder!
